Only a few meters from our doorstep, a circular trail around Lake Olbersdorf invites you to explore. Along the way you will find a children’s playground, bathing beach, volleyball courts, pedal boat rental, restaurants, and a wooden pier – offering plenty of opportunities for relaxation and recreation.
Hiking & Cycling
The Zittau Mountains provide countless opportunities for an active yet relaxing holiday within a small area. Rustic mountain lodges, fascinating rock formations, lookout towers, and scenic viewpoints are just a short distance away, nestled among charming villages with beautifully preserved half-timbered houses typical of the region.

Historic Narrow-Gauge Railway
The historic narrow-gauge railway runs from Zittau to Jonsdorf and Oybin, both ideal starting points for hikes or simply for enjoying an ice cream. The “Zittau Vorstadt” station is just a 10-minute walk from our apartment.
The Mountain Express takes you directly to the Töpfer and Hochwald lodges or up to Oybin.
Zittau
Explore Zittau’s old town, paradoxically named the “Neustadt” (new town). Visit the famous Lenten veils and the restored epitaph collection in the former monastery church.
You will also find a wide selection of recommended restaurants and pubs, along with a theater, a cinema, and—especially for classical music lovers—regular concerts in the Citizens’ Hall of the town hall.
